Humera white sesame is the world's most prized sesame variety, valued at $1,800–2,200/tonne. This 200-acre rain-fed sesame farm in Humera, Tigray runs one annual crop (July–November). Export contracts with Chinese, Japanese, and Israeli sesame importers are pre-arranged. Ethiopian government tax incentives for agricultural exporters apply.
